Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
At a time when all parishes across our vast country are experiencing hardships, it uplifts my heart to reflect on our Church life at St. Elia’s. We are not without our own ongoing hardships and yet there is a spirit of vitality and continued growth within our parish as is evident by the involvement of our young people and the numerous projects that our congregation takes on with Faith in God and Love toward each other. It was the love of God and love of our Orthodox Faith that motivated the original founders of our parish and that same determination and energy continues to exist today.
Located within the northeast area of the City of Edmonton, our parish serves a broad geographical area and is the second oldest Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Edmonton. Our membership consists of both young families and long-time, dedicated individuals who have faithfully worked for the Glory of God’s Holy Church.
At St. Elia’s the youth programs have been rejuvenated and Church (Sunday) School is provided weekly along with two full English language services that are offered on the first and third Sunday of each month during which all youth participate. Our Junior CYMK is active, the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada, Lesia Ukrainka Branch continues to grow and our Club Trident continues to carry on with its support of our Orthodox Church. It is with the dedicated support and enthusiasm of our members and the clubs and organizations, that our parish has been able to build toward the future.
We invite all Faithful to come worship with us, to visit, attend our fellowship functions, to become involved with parish life and to give thanks to the Lord for His blessings. I pray that God will continue to nurture and guide our members, and all Orthodox Faithful, in the present and toward the future, to the ultimate goal of spiritual fulfillment.
